Sept. 13, 2022 – Westchester County District Attorney Miriam E. Rocah announced that 49-year-old New Rochelle resident Braulio Ramirez was sentenced on Sept.13, 2022, to 17 years in state prison, with 20 years of post-release supervision, for engaging in sexual conduct with a child, which resulted in a pregnancy.

Between October 2019 and September 2021, starting when the minor was 11-years old, the defendant subjected the victim to intercourse and other sexual acts on multiple occasions, which resulted in the victim becoming pregnant. During the course of the sexual conduct, the defendant threatened to burn down the victim’s home with her family inside if she reported the abuse.

The New Rochelle Police Department arrested the defendant on Sept. 29, 2021, following an investigation.

In August 2022, the defendant pled guilty to Course of Sexual Conduct Against a Child in the First Degree, a violent felony, and Endangering the Welfare of a Child, a misdemeanor. The defendant will be required to register as a sex offender after completing his prison sentence.

The case was before Judge Susan Cacace in Westchester County Court, and was prosecuted by Child Abuse Deputy Bureau Chief Owein Levin and Assistant District Attorney Brittany Burk, both of the Special Prosecutions Division.
