DA Cacace Announces Westchester County Law Enforcement made 47 Gun-Related Arrests, Recovered 48 Firearms in Second Quarter of 2026

October 14, 2026

WHITE PLAINS, N.Y. – Westchester County District Attorney Susan Cacace announced today that law enforcement across Westchester made 47 arrests in connection with gun-related crimes and recovered 48 firearms, including eight ghost guns, between April and June as part of ongoing efforts to crack down on illegal firearms and protect public safety.

DA Cacace said: “It is important to remember that these statistics represent more than numbers on a page. Every firearm recovered is a potential act of violence prevented, an innocent life that may have been saved, and the commitment of law enforcement who put themselves at risk day in and day out to protect our communities. As Westchester County’s chief law enforcement officer, I am proud to partner with our dedicated local law enforcement agencies in our shared effort to combat gun violence and remove illegal guns from our streets. Even one life lost to gun violence is too many, and by working together to confront these dangers, we are preventing further harm and keeping Westchester safe.”

According to statistics compiled by the Westchester County District Attorney’s Office, law enforcement agencies throughout Westchester County recovered 39 pistols, three revolvers, four rifles, and two shell casings during the second quarter of 2026.

Six of the recovered pistols and two of the rifles were ghost guns – unserialized, untraceable firearms manufactured using 3D printers or assembled from partially finished firearm components. Seven of the eight ghost guns recovered – five 9mm pistols and two 5.56mm rifles – were seized during alleged sale transactions.

The largest recoveries were made in Yonkers (18), followed by White Plains (8), Mount Vernon (6), New Rochelle (4), Greenburgh (3), and Eastchester (2). Additional recoveries were made in Ardsley, Bronxville, Cortlandt, Peekskill, Somers, Yorktown, and Waterbury, Connecticut.

Approximately 32% of those arrested were from outside Westchester County. The majority came from the Bronx (5), Connecticut (4), and Kentucky (2), while others came from New York City, Massachusetts, Arkansas, and Georgia.

Of the 47 individuals arrested, 40% were between 21 and 30 years old, 28% were between 31 and 40, 21% were 20 or younger, 9% were between 41 and 50, and 2% were between 61 and 70.

*These numbers include not only gun recoveries but also gun-related recoveries, such as shell casings and recoveries falling into the Other and Unknown categories.
