March 14, 2019 -- Westchester County District Attorney Anthony A. Scarpino, Jr. announced that Paul Overton of Yonkers was sentenced to a state prison term for assaulting a Westchester County Correction Officer in the county jail.

In January, a Westchester County jury convicted Overton of Assault in Second Degree, a class D felony, following a trial before Westchester County Court Judge David Zuckerman. Overton will serve five years in state prison followed by five years post-release supervision.

On July 19, 2017, the defendant assaulted a Correction Officer at the Westchester County Jail. After failing to comply with numerous lawful orders, Overton intentionally caused injury to the officer by punching, biting and struggling with him.
