Defendant: Paul Overton (DOB 06/17/82)

Jan. 08, 2019 -- Westchester County District Attorney Anthony A. Scarpino, Jr. announced that Paul Overton of Yonkers was convicted of Assault in Second Degree for assaulting a Westchester County Correction Officer in the county jail. A jury convicted Overton following a trial before Westchester County Court Judge David Zuckerman.

Overton faces a maximum sentence of seven years in state prison when he is scheduled to be sentenced March 13, 2019.

Background
On July 19, 2017, the defendant assaulted a correction officer at the Westchester County Jail. After failing to comply with numerous lawful orders, the defendant intentionally caused injury to the officer by punching, biting and struggling with him. 

Assistant District Attorney Joseph Servino of the Career Criminal Bureau prosecuted the case.
