Jan. 10, 2013 -- Westchester County District Attorney Janet DiFiore announced that Sunil Williams (DOB 10/28/83) of 4731 Richardson Avenue, Bronx, New York and Maurice Walker (DOB 12/07/79) of 552 Gramatan Avenue, Mount Vernon, New York, were arraigned today on a three count indictment charging them with:

•    one count of Murder in the Second Degree, a class “A-1” Felony,
•    one count of Manslaughter in the First Degree, a class “B” Violent Felony,
•    one count of Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the Third Degree, a class “D” Felony,

relating to a fatal stabbing.

On Nov. 23, 2012 at approximately 10:30 am, Peekskill Police responded to 629 South Street where they found 23-year-old Alexander Rochester of the Bronx on the sidewalk with multiple stab wounds to his chest.

He was rushed to Hudson Valley Hospital Center where he was pronounced dead.

Police began an investigation and arrested Williams that day.

After reviewing surveillance video from inside the shop, Walker was charged with the murder on Nov. 28, 2012.

The incident stemmed from a prior dispute and occurred outside of a barber shop where both defendants worked on South Street.

Bail was set at $150,000 for defendant Walker; Williams was remanded.

Their next court date is Jan. 31, 2013.

The defendants each face a maximum sentence of 25 years to life in state prison on the top count of the indictment.

Assistant District Attorney Christine O’Connor and Assistant District Attorney Shameika Mathurin of the Superior Court Trial Division are prosecuting the case.
