Back to School Month: DA Cacace Highlights Free Safety Presentations for Students, Parents, and Educators

WHITE PLAINS, N.Y. – As children across Westchester County’s 40 school districts return to school, Westchester County District Attorney Susan Cacace is reminding students, parents, educators, and community members that the DA’s Office offers FREE safety presentations addressing important issues affecting young people today.

DA Cacace said: “As the new school year begins, the Westchester County District Attorney’s Office is here to help keep our children safe – not only by prosecuting crime, but by working with our educators, families, and communities to prevent it. Our expert prosecutors and criminal investigators provide free presentations to schools on important issues impacting young people today. As a mother of three daughters and your District Attorney, I know a new school year brings excitement, but it can also bring challenges and risks that you should be prepared for. Education is one of our most powerful tools for prevention, and we’re here to help whenever you need us."

Our office’s experienced prosecutors and criminal investigators visit schools, youth programs, community organizations, and other local settings year-round to provide engaging and informative presentations for students, parents, and educators.

These presentations provide valuable information and resources to help young people and the adults who support them navigate critical safety issues, including:

  • Cyberbullying
  • Healthy Relationships
  • Teen Dating Violence
  • Hate Crimes & Bias
  • Distracted Driving
  • Prom Safety
  • Substance Abuse
  • And More

So far in 2026, our office has delivered more than 100 free presentations, reaching children and teens throughout the county while strengthening partnerships with local schools, law enforcement agencies, and community organizations.

In October 2025, our office launched its first-ever school safety symposium, bringing together our experts and local and federal law enforcement to provide educators with information on current and emerging safety concerns, as well as strategies to help identify, prevent, and respond to potential threats.

We have since hosted and co-hosted two additional school safety symposiums this year and plan to continue organizing these important events in the future.
