Yonkers Man Sentenced to 12 Years in State Prison for Robbery of Senior

WHITE PLAINS, N.Y. – Westchester County District Attorney Susan Cacace announced that Vladimir Puentes, 51 years old, of Yonkers, was sentenced on Tuesday to 12 years in state prison./p>
Specifically, the defendant was sentenced to the following:
- For count 1, Robbery in the First Degree, 12 in years state prison plus 5 years post-release supervision.
- For count 2, Robbery in the Second Degree, 12 in years state prison plus 5 years post-release supervision.
- For count 3, Assault in the Second Degree, 7 years in state prison plus 5 years post-release supervision.
These sentences will run concurrently with each other. Puentes was sentenced by Judge Robert Prisco.
On July 1, 2024, Puentes assaulted and robbed a 75-year-old Yonkers man in an alleyway off of Riverdale Ave. near Radford St. He was arrested after an investigation by the Yonkers Police Department.
DA Cacace said: “Protecting our most vulnerable community members, particularly the elderly, is paramount to the Westchester County Districts Attorney’s Office. We hope that this strong sentence will serve as a warning that violence directed at our seniors will not be tolerated.”
This case was prosecuted by Assistant District Attorneys Alexander Shapiro and Rachel Ehrhardt.
