Defendant: Terrence Gonzalez (DOB 01/07/92)

Sept. 15, 2020 -- District Attorney Anthony A. Scarpino, Jr. announced Terrence Gonzalez of Yonkers has been indicted for the murder of Lateef Butler on Nepperhan Avenue in June. Gonzalez was arraigned Sept. 8, 2020, in Westchester County Court before Judge David Zuckerman.

He is charged with the following:

  • Murder in the Second Degree, a class A-Felony
  • Criminal Possession of a weapon in the Second Degree, a class C felony

Gonzalez was remanded into custody and is scheduled to return to court Oct. 1, 2020.

Background
On June 26, 2020, after an ongoing argument which came to a head outside an apartment building on Nepperhan Avenue, Terrence Gonzalez shot 23-year-old Lateef Butler multiple times and fled the scene. The murder took place just after 6 p.m. Security video outside the complex captured the shooting. Yonkers Police recovered .38 caliber handgun and arrested Gonzalez for the shooting.

Assistant District Attorneys Julia Cornachio, Bureau Chief, and Kerrie Williams, Deputy Bureau Chief, both of the Superior Court Trial Division, are prosecuting the case.
