Mount Vernon Gang Member Convicted of Weapons Charges Including Possession of an M-11 9mm Machine Pistol
October 31, 2025
WHITE PLAINS, N.Y. – Westchester County District Attorney Susan Cacace announced that a 28-year-old Mount Vernon gang member was convicted on several counts of weapons possession. This jury trial was presided over by Westchester County Court Judge Maurice D. Williams.
Malachi Beccan, a known member of the Makk Balla Family, a set of the notorious Bloods street gang, was found guilty of two counts of Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the Second Degree, a class C violent felony, and five counts of Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the Third Degree, a class D violent felony.
On January 23, 2025, after an investigation was initiated by criminal investigators in the Westchester County District Attorney’s Office, a search warrant was executed at Beccan’s residence in Mount Vernon. Members of the Federal Bureau of Investigations Westchester Safe Streets Task Force assisted the DA’s Office with this search warrant. The Mount Vernon Police Department also assisted with effecting this warrant.
Investigators recovered two loaded 9mm pistols and five high-capacity magazines in the execution of this search warrant. The two loaded firearms included a stolen Smith & Wesson M&P Shield 9mm pistol and a SWD M-11 9mm pistol. The SWD M-11 is a semi-automatic civilian variant of the MAC-11 submachine gun developed by the Military Armament Corporation in the 1970s. Investigators also recovered a significant amount of evidence tying these weapons to the defendant.
DA Cacace said: “This case is a stark reminder of the incredibly dangerous firepower that our law enforcement officers and innocent civilians face on our streets. Our office will continue to team up with our partners in law enforcement to take these illegal weapons off our streets and to bring those who violate our gun laws to justice.”
Malachi Beccan is set to be sentenced on December 5th.
This case was prosecuted by ADA John Waszak of the Special Investigations Bureau under the supervision of Senior Assistant District Attorney Courtney Johnson.
