Defendant: Diamante Powell (DOB 08/28/98)

Oct. 3, 2018 -- Westchester County District Attorney Anthony A. Scarpino, Jr. announced that Diamante Powell of Yonkers pleaded guilty Tuesday (Oct. 2) in front of Judge Barry Warhit, to Attempted Murder in the Second Degree. On sentencing, he will receive 8.5 years in state prison. Sentencing is scheduled for Jan. 10, 2019.

Background
On Sept. 26, 2016, at approximately 4:30 a.m., in the vicinity of 34 Prospect St. in Yonkers, Powell shot the victim in his lower extremities as the victim was running away from him. The victim underwent multiple surgeries and has lasting serious physical injury. The victim and the defendant were known to each other.

Powell was indicted by a Westchester County Grand Jury in April.

The case was prosecuted by District Attorney’s Office Investigations Division Gang, Firearms and Narcotics Bureau.
