WHITE PLAINS, N.Y. – Westchester County District Attorney Miriam E. Rocah announced today that a New York City man was sentenced on Thursday to seven years in state prison for illegal gun possession.

DA Rocah said: “Today’s sentence is another example of my unwavering commitment to removing dangerous weapons and those who illegally possess them from our streets.”

The defendant, Jose Valle, 35, of New York City, pleaded guilty on Oct. 12, 2023, to Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the Second Degree, a felony. In addition to his sentence, the defendant will receive five years of post-release supervision. The defendant, who has prior felony convictions, is prohibited from legally possessing firearms.

On Dec. 28, 2022, at approximately 4:48 p.m., the Westchester County Department of Public Safety conducted a routine traffic stop on the Hutchinson River Parkway in Harrison. The defendant attempted to flee before police arrested him and recovered from the defendant’s pant leg a 9mm pistol loaded with seven bullets.

The case was before Judge George Fufidio in Westchester County Court and prosecuted by Senior Assistant District Attorney Adrian Murphy of the Trials and Investigations Division.
