Defendant: Diego Caceres (DOB 04/20/82)

Dec. 13, 2018 -- Westchester County District Attorney Anthony A. Scarpino, Jr. announced Diego Caceres pleaded guilty yesterday (12/12/18) to Aggravated Vehicular Assault, a class C felony, in the February head-on collision on the Bronx River Parkway in Yonkers that injured six people. Westchester County Court Judge Larry Schwartz accepted the plea.

Caceres remains out on bail. He faces a maximum sentence of 5-15 years in state prison. Sentencing is expected in March.

Background
On Friday, Feb. 9, 2018, at 3:13 a.m., Diego Caceres of Manhattan drove the wrong way in the northbound lane of the Bronx River Parkway at the DeWitt Avenue Bridge in Yonkers. He was under the influence of drugs and alcohol. At that time, his 2012 Nissan Murano collided head-on with an oncoming Dodge SUV carrying six individuals who were visiting from Florida. Two of them sustained serious physical injuries, which required hospitalization.

Westchester County Department of Public Safety (County Police) arrested Caceres at the scene.

This case is being prosecuted by Assistant District Attorney Joseph Servino of the Career Criminal Bureau.
