Background
On Sunday, Oct. 23, 2016, at approximately 2:48 a.m., following a minor two-car collision on South Broadway in Yonkers, Steven Edmondson, his co-defendant Christopher Lopes and two other unidentified occupants of Edmondson’s car, threatened the driver of the other car when he pulled over to exchange drivers’ information. Out of fear, that driver tried to escape by driving away and subsequently crashed his car into two parked cars. Then, Edmondson, Lopes and the other occupants of Edmondson’s car pulled the driver out of his car and severely beat him. In addition, they stole the driver’s wallet, which contained approximately $1500 in cash. The victim suffered life-threatening injuries to his face and neck. Yonkers Police arrested Edmondson and Lopes at the scene.

Assistant District Attorney Craig Ascher of the Superior Court Trial Division prosecuted the case.
