Defendant: Iqbal Hussain (DOB 12/21/91)

Dec. 10, 2018 -- Westchester County District Attorney Anthony A. Scarpino, Jr. announced Iqbal Hussain, an Uber driver from the Bronx, was arraigned on charges related to the sexual assault of a passenger riding with him in Westchester County in June.

Hussain appeared before Westchester County Court Judge Larry Schwartz following an indictment by a Westchester County Grand Jury on these charges:

  • Sexual Abuse in the First Degree, a class D felony
  • Assault in the Second Degree, a class D felony
  • Unlawful Imprisonment in the Second Degree, a misdemeanor

His next court appearance is on the calendar Jan. 8, 2019.

Background
On June 8, 2018, at approximately 2 a.m., the victim requested an Uber ride from New York City to her home. She fell asleep in the backseat and shortly thereafter, the car stopped. She awoke to find the driver, Iqbal Hussain, in the backseat with her groping her under her dress. A brief struggle ensued; the driver returned to the driver’s seat and drove the passenger home. The incident was then reported to police.

Assistant District Attorney Kerrie Williams, Deputy Chief of the Sex Crimes Bureau, is prosecuting the case.
