Defendant: Michael Jenkins DOB: (01/08/99)

Aug. 12, 2020 – Westchester County District Attorney Anthony A. Scarpino, Jr. announced Michael Jenkins of Peekskill was indicted on multiple charges by a Westchester County Grand Jury in the May fatal shooting of Emmanuel Jordan in Peekskill. Jenkins was arraigned via video conference before Judge David Zuckerman.

Specifically, Jenkins is charged with:

  • Two counts of Murder in the Second Degree, a class A felony
  • Two counts of Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the Second Degree, a class C felony
  • Two counts of Robbery in the First Degree, a class B felony
  • Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the Third Degree, a class D felony

Bail was set at $500,000 cash/bond or $5 million partially secured bond (10 percent). His next court date is scheduled for Nov. 4, 2020.

Background
Early Saturday morning, May 9, 2020, Peekskill police responded to a call of a man not moving in a car on Paulding Street. They found the victim’s body with multiple gunshot wounds. He was identified as 27-year-old Emmanuel Jordan of Mohegan Lake.

Peekskill Police began an investigation into the fatal shooting with the assistance of the District Attorney's Office High Technology Unit.

Prosecutors allege, Michael Jenkins met the victim, Emanuel Jordan, Friday evening on Paulding Street where he robbed and murdered him. He was arrested by Peekskill Police.

Assistant District Attorneys Laura Murphy, Chief of the Career Criminal Bureau, and Brian Bendish, both of the Superior Court Trial Division, are prosecuting the case.
