in the repeated and long term sexual assault of a child he coached between 2012 and 2015.

Mount Vernon Police became aware of the abuse in April of 2015, after word of the sexual relationship between the defendant, an assistant coach on a private track team, and one of the children on the team, began to circulate amongst her team community, and after the child told a relative of the defendant’s prolonged abuse of her. The investigation then involved the Special Prosecutions Division of the Westchester County District Attorney’s Office, who worked with the Mount Vernon Police Department and the Westchester County Child Advocacy Center, to investigate the case. The investigation revealed that the defendant also acted as a volunteer track coach at the child’s high school in the Bronx.

The defendant was remanded into the custody of the New York State Department of Corrections.

Assistant District Attorney Mary Clark DiRusso, Deputy Bureau Chief of the Domestic Violence Bureau, and Assistant District Attorney Owein Levin of the Special Prosecutions Division prosecuted the case.
