Aug. 5, 2016 -- Acting Westchester County District Attorney James A. McCarty announced that Christopher Schraufnagel (DOB 08/11/74) of 55 Cooper St., New York, NY pled guilty on Aug. 4, 2016 to:

  • three counts of Endangering the Welfare of a Child, class “A” Misdemeanors.

The defendant appearing in New Castle Town Court, admitted subjecting two of the three victims to sexual contact. 

Under the terms of the proposed plea agreement, the defendant will face three years of probation with sex offender conditions which will include work, residency restrictions as well as sex offender treatment.

The defendant will also be required to surrender his New York State Teaching Certificate.

From May 1, 2011 to June 5, 2015, the defendant, a former speech and drama teacher at Horace Greeley High School in Chappaqua, NY engaged in numerous instances of sexual assault, inappropriate sexual conduct and contact with a total of three underage students of the school.

The defendant will be sentenced on Nov. 10, 2016.

Assistant District Attorney Mary Clark-DiRusso of the Special Prosecutions Division prosecuted the case.
