Defendant: Chanelle Franklin (DOB 04/15/85)

Oct. 18, 2019 -- Westchester County District Attorney Anthony A. Scarpino, Jr. announced that Chanelle Franklin of Yonkers pleaded guilty Thursday (10/17) to manslaughter in the stabbing death of Khalif Kennedy in February.
Specifically Franklin entered a guilty plea to Manslaughter in the Second Degree, a class C felony. State Supreme Court Justice Barry Warhit accepted the plea. She is scheduled to be sentenced on Jan. 24, 2020.

Background
On Feb. 2, 2019, Chanelle Franklin stabbed Khalif Kennedy in her apartment on Caryl Avenue in Yonkers. Police responded to a 911 call and found the victim with a life-threatening puncture wound to his neck. Kennedy was taken by ambulance to a local hospital where he died from his injury.

Yonkers Police Detectives from the Major Case Squad investigated the death.

Assistant District Attorneys Nadine Nagler, Chief of the Narcotics and Firearms Bureau, and John Astarita, both of the Superior Court Trial Division, prosecuted the case.
