Defendant: Jorge Moran-Gaspar (DOB 01/09/91)

Oct. 8, 2019 -- Westchester County District Attorney Anthony A. Scarpino, Jr. announced Jorge Moran-Gaspar of the Bronx was sentenced to prison in the rape of a young teenager in Mount Vernon. Westchester County Court Judge Susan Cacace presided.

In April, he Moran-Gaspar pleaded guilty to Rape in the Third Degree, a class E felony. He will serve 4 years in state prison with 10 years’ post-release supervision after which he will register as a sex offender.

Background
In May 2018, the child victim reported she was involved in an inappropriate sexual relationship with an adult–Jorge Moran-Gaspar–that began when she was 14 years old. The defendant had also been physically abusive toward the child victim prompting the victim to seek assistance from law enforcement.

An investigation was commenced, during which the defendant admitted to the Mount Vernon Police that he had sex with the victim when she was 14 years old. The defendant was arrested by the Mount Vernon PD June 2, 2018.

The case was prosecuted by Amit Parab of the Special Prosecutions Division.
