Defendant: Dahjuantay Douglas (DOB 01/27/97)

Oct. 26, 2018 -- Westchester County District Attorney Anthony A. Scarpino, Jr. announced Dahjuantay Douglas of the Bronx was arraigned today on a charge of Attempted Murder in the Second Degree, a class B violent felony, following a non-fatal shooting in downtown Mount Vernon Oct. 4, 2018. Douglas was arraigned in Mount Vernon City Court and was remanded into custody. His next scheduled appearance in court will be Nov. 1, 2018

Background
The felony complaint alleges, on Oct. 4, 2018, in the vicinity of Gramatan and West Sidney avenues in Mount Vernon, around 2:30 a.m., Dahjuantay Douglas fired two shots, one in the air and the second striking his victim who was a passenger in a moving car at the time. The victim remained in the car as the driver proceeded into Yonkers where the injured victim was taken by ambulance to a local hospital and treated for a non-life-threatening injury.

As part of the investigation, Mount Vernon police obtained surveillance video showing the alleged gunman possessing and shooting the gun at the victim.

After further investigation, police arrested Douglas Thursday, Oct. 25, 2018 near his home in the Bronx.

The Investigations Division Gang and Firearms Unit is prosecuting the case.
