Nov. 26, 2018 -- Westchester County District Attorney Anthony A. Scarpino, Jr. announced Preston Thomas of Mount Vernon pleaded guilty to Criminal Possession of a Forged Instrument in the Third Degree, a misdemeanor, for his arrest in April for driving with a false car registration tag.

Thomas was sentenced to one-year conditional discharge immediately upon his plea in Mount Vernon City Court. In addition, he pleaded guilty to Aggravated Unlicensed Operation of a Vehicle in the Third Degree, driving with a suspended license, a misdemeanor. For that, he also received a conditional discharge that will run concurrently.

Mount Vernon Police arrested Thomas after a traffic stop where an officer noticed a fraudulent New Jersey Temporary registration tag displayed in the defendant’s car. At the time, Thomas’s New York State driver’s license already was suspended.
