“In Westchester, we know the damage wrought by homemade “ghost guns,” either through 3-D printing or parts sold on the internet. It was a so-called DIY gun used to shoot and injure Yonkers Police Officer Kayla Maher. We must keep these weapons out of the hands of criminals. The Trump Administration has been working toward revised rules that would allow the U.S. Commerce Department to grant licenses to post 3-D gun files on the internet, files that are directions on the use of gun-printing software. A Federal Judge’s order blocks the Trump Administration from transferring the 3-D-printed gun files to Commerce and requires the State Department to continue regulating them while a multistate lawsuit continues.

”We stand with Attorney General James, here in New York, and with other law enforcement professionals across the country in applauding this Judge’s action. We must do all we can to end the kind of gun violence brought on by unregistered weapons to keep Westchester safe.”
