Defendant: Rosa Ramirez (DOB 02/18/91)

Feb. 21, 2020 -- Westchester County District Attorney Anthony A. Scarpino, Jr. announced that Rosa Ramirez of New York City has pleaded guilty to murder in the 2018 stabbing death of a co-worker in an Irvington restaurant.

Specifically, Ramirez pleaded guilty before State Supreme Court Justice Barry Warhit to Murder in the Second Degree, a class A felony.

Ramirez is due back in court on April 24, 2020 for sentencing. She is promised 17 years to life in state prison.

Background
On April 10, 2018, Ramirez was in the River City Grille on Broadway in Irvington. She was in the restaurant kitchen working as a dishwasher along with other kitchen staff. Just after 11 a.m., prosecutors allege Ramirez attacked the prep cook, 38-year-old Bonifacio Rodriquez of Yonkers, with a kitchen knife. Rodriquez tried to protect himself but was stabbed multiple times. Another employee in the kitchen attempted to intervene but was also threatened but not injured.

Irvington Police responded and the victim was taken to Westchester County Medical Center where he was pronounced dead. Ramirez had only worked at the restaurant for a few days. Ramirez was apprehended shortly thereafter in the vicinity of the restaurant.

Assistant District Attorneys Laura Murphy, Chief of the Career Criminal Bureau, and Kerrie Williams, Deputy Chief of the Sex Crimes Bureau, are prosecuting the case.

In compliance with the Rules of Professional Conduct, Rule 3.6, you are advised that a charge is merely an accusation and that a defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
