Feb. 5, 2020 -- Westchester County District Attorney Anthony A. Scarpino, Jr. announced James Hilliard of Yonkers was arraigned for the murder of a friend in January. A Westchester County Grand Jury indicted Hilliard for Murder in the Second Degree, a class A violent felony, and Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the Third Degree, a class D felony. Westchester County Court Judge David Zuckerman presided.

Hilliard was remanded to Westchester County Jail. His next court appearance is scheduled for Feb. 19, 2020.

Background
On Monday, Jan. 13, 2020, at approximately 11:46 a.m., members of the Yonkers Police Department responded to 63 Beaumont Circle on a report of a possible stabbing incident. Police found an unresponsive woman on the floor. The victim was stabbed multiple times in her head and neck area.

She was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police arrested Hilliard at the scene. Hilliard and the victim were acquainted.

Deputy District Attorney Christine O’Connor, Chief of the Homicide Bureau, and ADA Daniel Flecha, of the Supreme Court Trial Division, are prosecuting the case.

 In compliance with the Rules of Professional Conduct, Rule 3.6, you are advised that a charge is merely an accusation and that a defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
