Defendant: Celina Collazo (DOB 06/08/79)

Aug. 24, 2018 -- Westchester County District Attorney Anthony A. Scarpino, Jr. announced Celina Collazo of the Bronx was arraigned Wednesday (Aug. 22, 2018) in the Greenburgh Town Court on a charge of Grand Larceny in the Second Degree, a felony, for stealing from her former employer.

Collazo was employed as an accounts receivable specialist for New Castle Building Products on Old Tarrytown Road in the Town of Greenburgh. As an accounts receivable specialist, she was responsible for, among other duties, receiving customer payments, posting receipts to the appropriate customer's accounts, preparing deposits to be brought to the bank, and reviewing checks to be deposited. 

Collazo perpetrated her scheme by stealing cash payments made by customers and then covering up this theft by entering both fabricated checks and inflated check amounts into the New Castle Building Product’s accounting system. Over the course of three years, from approximately July 1, 2014, through March 1, 2017, Collazo stole approximately $225,450.72 from New Castle Building Products. 

The case is next on in Greenburgh Town Court Oct. 4, 2018. Bail was previously set at $5,000 cash or $10,000 bond.

This investigation was worked jointly with Greenburgh Police Department. The case is being prosecuted by the Economic Crimes Bureau of the Westchester County District Attorney’s Office.
