Feb. 14, 2018 -- Westchester County District Attorney Anthony A. Scarpino, Jr. today announced Diego Caceres has been charged with one count of Aggravated Vehicular Assault in the Feb. 9 head-on collision on the Bronx River Parkway in Yonkers that injured six people.

Caceres (D/O/B 04/20/1982) was arraigned late Tuesday at Westchester County Medical Center where he is recovering from injuries received in the crash. Bail was set at $100,000.

The indictment alleges that on Friday, Feb. 9, 2018 at 3:13 a.m., Caceres was driving his 2012 Nissan Murano the wrong way in the northbound lane of the Bronx River Parkway at the DeWitt Avenue Bridge in Yonkers while intoxicated. At that time, his vehicle collided head-on with an oncoming Dodge Durango carrying six passengers who were visiting from Florida. All six were injured and treated for their injuries, two of which sustained serious physical injuries and remain hospitalized.

Caceres was arrested at the scene by the Westchester County Department of Public Safety.

Caceres’ next court appearance is scheduled for Feb. 21, 2018.

This case is being handled by the Vehicular Crimes Bureau.
