Defendant: Anthony Villa (DOB 07/27/93)

July 17, 2018 -- Westchester County District Attorney Anthony A. Scarpino, Jr. announced that Anthony Villa of Yonkers has been arraigned on multiple charges including Attempted Murder stemming from a shooting incident on a Yonkers street in April.

Villa was indicted on the following charges:

  • Attempted Murder in the Second Degree, a class B felony
  • Reckless Endangerment in the First Degree, a class D felony
  • Two counts of Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the Second Degree, a class C felony
  • One count of Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the Third Degree, a class D felony

Background
The indictment alleges, Saturday, April 21, 2018, at approximately 9 a.m., Anthony Villa, the defendant, was walking on the sidewalk in the area of Cliff Street and Spruce Street in Yonkers. As Villa was having an argument with another male, who was seated in the driver’s seat of a car traveling on Spruce Street, Villa pulled out a pistol and started firing at the male. The shooting occurred on a street where there was heavy vehicular and pedestrian traffic. Also, there were several children playing in a playground in the direction where the defendant was firing his gun.

Villa was arrested June 4, 2018 by the Yonkers Police Department.

Villa is expected back in court July 31, 2018. He faces up to 25 years in prison if convicted of Attempted Murder.

The case is being prosecuted by the Gang and Firearms Unit of the Investigations Division.
