Background
On Sept. 20, 2019, prosecutors allege, Johnny Machado drove near Dobbs Ferry High School on Broadway, Route 9, in Dobbs Ferry when his car struck a pedestrian in the crosswalk. The victim was 91-year-old Rocco DePaolo, who attended a high school football game and was walking home around 9:25 p.m. DePaolo was taken to Westchester County Medical Center where he died from his injuries. Machado drove away after hitting Mr. DePaolo.

Assistant District Attorney Nadine Nagler, a bureau chief in the Superior Court Trial Division, is prosecuting the case.
