Defendant: Glen Robinson (DOB 02/19/93)

Sept. 23, 2020 -- Westchester County District Attorney Anthony A. Scarpino, Jr. announced Glen Robinson of Elmsford was sentenced to 2-6 years in state prison for hitting and killing Susan Benjamin-Bailey of the Bronx with his car as she crossed the street in front of the Westchester County Center in White Plains in August 2019. He pleaded guilty in January to one count of Vehicular Manslaughter in the Second Degree, a class D felony.

Robinson appeared today in Westchester County Court before Judge Anne Minihan.

In Court today, Kimesha Kelly, daughter of the victim, speaking on behalf of her family, told of the devastating impact their mother’s death has had on them and their extended family. She made it clear, Susan Benjamin-Bailey was the center of their lives. Emotional impact statements from the victim’s mother and her ten siblings in Jamaica were read into the record. Other family members also spoke. All of them expressed their deep sadness and continued mourning for her tragic death.

Background
In White Plains, Aug. 24, 2019, just after 6:30 in the morning, Glen Robinson was driving while intoxicated. Susan Benjamin-Bailey was on her way to work that morning. At the intersection of Tarrytown Road and Central Avenue, Robinson drove his Chevrolet Cruze into her as she crossed the roadway in front of the Westchester County Center. The 57-year-old victim was taken to White Plains Hospital where she died from her injuries.

Assistant District Attorney Laura Murphy, Chief of the Career Criminal Bureau, prosecuted the case.
