Defendant: Jeffrey Hirschorn (DOB 06/30/59)

Sept. 9, 2020 – District Attorney Anthony A. Scarpino, Jr. announced Jeffrey Hirschorn of Yonkers was indicted by a Westchester County Grand Jury for the fatal shooting of his sister outside their home in early July.

Hirschorn appeared in court before Judge Zuckerman and was arraigned on the following:

• Murder in the Second Degree, a class A-I violent felony
• Two counts of Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the Second Degree, a class C felony

Hirschorn was remanded into custody and his next court date is scheduled for Sept. 30, 2020.

Background
Jeffrey Hirschorn and his sister, 54-year-old Leslie Hirschorn, lived together with their elderly mother on Oakland Avenue in Yonkers. On Friday July 3, 2020, just after 6 p.m., it is alleged they were engaged in an argument. The two were on the front lawn. The dispute escalated to violence when the suspect displayed a handgun, a loaded Smith and Wesson .38 caliber revolver. Hirschhorn allegedly pointed the handgun at his sister and fired once, striking her in the neck resulting in her death.

He remained at scene and police recovered an illegally possessed firearm. The elderly mother was taken to a local area hospital for evaluation but was unharmed in the incident. Yonkers Police arrested Hirschorn at the scene.

Assistant District Attorneys Nicholas DiCostanzo and Christine O’Connor, Deputy Division Chief of the Superior Court Trial Division, prosecuted the case.
