Defendant: Robert Johnson (DOB 04/25/86)

Sept. 16, 2019 -- Westchester County District Attorney Anthony A. Scarpino, Jr. announced that defendant Robert Johnson of Mount Vernon was found guilty by a Westchester County jury of attempting to assault two men with a bat last October. Westchester County Court Judge David Zuckerman presided.
Specifically, the jury found Johnson guilty of:

  • two counts of Attempted Assault in the First Degree, a class C violent felony
  • one count of Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the Third Degree, a class D felony

Background
The defendant attacked two men with a bat in the vicinity of Eighth Avenue and Fifth Street in Mount Vernon Oct, 6, 2018 at approximately 5:30 p.m. The entire attack was captured on surveillance video.

The defendant has two prior felony convictions.

Johnson is scheduled to be sentenced on Oct. 30, 2019.

The case was prosecuted by the Investigations Division.
