Sept. 12, 2019 -- “Strong gun safety laws in New York State give us the tools to keep our communities safer and more secure. Extending the background check waiting period will help keep guns out of the hands of potentially dangerous individuals. This action goes hand-in-hand with the Red Flag Law which allows loved ones, schools and law enforcement to petition the court to temporarily block access to weapons for individuals in crisis. I commend Governor Cuomo and the State Legislature for putting the safety of our communities first.”
