Defendant: Lloyd Scott (DOB 12/19/83)

Sept. 5, 2019 -- Westchester County District Attorney Anthony A. Scarpino, Jr. announced Lloyd Scott of Mount Vernon pleaded guilty in connection with the death of his toddler son in their East Lincoln Avenue home in April 2018.

During today’s court appearance, Scott pleaded guilty to Manslaughter in the First Degree, a class B felony, for which he has been promised a sentence of 21 years in state prison with five years’ post-release supervision. State Supreme Court Justice Barry Warhit accepted the plea. Sentencing is scheduled for Dec. 6, 2019.

Background
On April 16, 2018, Scott was alone with his two-year-old son while the boy’s mother was at work. During that time, he beat the child, put him in bed, and when the mother returned home from work told her the boy was sleeping. When she checked on her son, he was not breathing and was covered in bruises all over his face and torso. Scott drove the mother and child to the area near Montefiore Mount Vernon Hospital, but when the mother ran into the emergency room with the child in her arms, Scott fled in her car. The child was pronounced dead shortly after arriving at the hospital and Scott was apprehended later that night.

Following an autopsy performed at the Westchester Medical Examiner's Office, the child was determined to have suffered blunt force trauma to his body including lacerations to his liver, his pancreas and his intestines.

Second Deputy District Attorney Fredric I. Green, Chief of the Special Prosecutions Division, and Assistant District Attorney Wendy Parra, Chief of the Domestic Violence Bureau, are prosecuting the case.
