Westchester County District Attorney Janet DiFiore announced that Dannel Hill (DOB 07/01/79) of 4 Waring Row, Yonkers, New York was sentenced today to 22 years in state prison on one count of Attempted Murder in the Second Degree, a class “B” Felony, one count of Gang Assault in the First Degree, a class “B” Felony, two counts of Assault in the First Degree, class “B” Felonies, and weapons charges relating to the near fatal attack of a 16-year-old Yonkers boy.

Owen Devore (DOB: 06/21/77) of 224 Woodworth Avenue, Yonkers, NY, another participant in the attack, was also sentenced today to 15 years in state prison on the same charges.

Reginald Parrish (DOB 11/14/76) of 4 Waring Row, Yonkers, NY, a third participant and Hill’s half brother, was scheduled to be sentenced today but received an adjournment due to a grievance filed by Parrish against his attorney.  Parrish’s next court date is July 10, 2007.

On December 22, 2004, the three defendants and a fourth man confronted the victim on the street and accused him of stealing from Hill.  The men then forced the 16-year-old boy into their car and drove him to John F. Kennedy Marina where they brutally attacked him, slashing his throat and stabbing him multiple times.  The defendants fled, leaving the boy at the Marina.

District Attorney Janet DiFiore commented after the sentencing, “A young man was brutally attacked and barely managed to escape with his life.  Thanks to the diligent work of detectives from the Yonkers Police Department and prosecutors from the District Attorney’s office, a persistent violent offender is off the streets and will spend the better part of three decades behind bars.”

Assistant District Attorney Heide Mason of the Superior Court Trial Division prosecuted the case.
