Defendant: Nahyime Goldson (DOB 08/25/95)

Oct. 8, 2019 -- Westchester County District Attorney Anthony A. Scarpino, Jr. announced Nahyime Goldson of the Bronx was sentenced for crimes against a victim in whose home he was assigned to work as a cable installer.
Westchester County Court Judge Susan Cacace sentenced him to a determinate term of imprisonment of 3.5 years in state prison and the judge ordered the NYS Department of Corrections and Community Supervision (DOCCS) to enroll the defendant in the “shock” incarceration program.

In June, a jury found Goldson guilty of: 

• Burglary in the Second Degree: Illegal Entry-Sexually Motivated, a class C felony
• Stalking in the Third Degree, a class A misdemeanor

In addition to the 3.5 years determinate term, Goldson was sentenced to one year in County Jail on the stalking charge. The sentences will run consecutively.

In court, Assistant District Attorney Michelle Lopez, Chief of the Sex Crimes Bureau, who prosecuted the case, read from the victim’s impact statement. In it, the 19-year-old victim described how she sank into fear and depression following the attack and was not “prepared for what came afterward in terms of the decline of my health (mental, physical and emotional).”

The victim added, she has not been able to resume college life as she had planned. In her final words, she said, “I’ve lost myself.”

Background
In August 2018, while working as a cable television installer, Nahyime Goldson was in a Mount Vernon residence. While there, he subjected a young woman to unwanted sexual advances, placing her in fear that a sex crime may be committed against her. At one point, he locked her in a bedroom. When told to leave, he remained unlawfully in her home.

On Aug. 5, 2018, he was arrested by Mount Vernon Police.
