Defendant: Hugo Zuniga (DOB 05/19/82)

Oct. 11, 2019 -- Westchester County District Attorney Anthony A. Scarpino, Jr. announced that Hugo Zuniga of Port Chester was found guilty of sexually abusing a child. A Westchester County Jury returned the verdict this afternoon, after deliberating over the course of five days. Westchester County Court Judge George Fufidio presided.

Specifically, Zuniga was found guilty of:

  • Sex Abuse in the First Degree, a class D felony
  • Endangering the Welfare of a Child, a misdemeanor

Zuniga is in custody awaiting sentencing scheduled for Dec. 10, 2019. He faces a maximum of seven years in state prison and will have to register as a sex offender.

Background
The indictment alleges, in August 2018, Hugo Zuniga sexually abused a 14-year-old victim. Port Chester Police arrested him Nov. 8, 2018, following a joint investigation between Port Chester Police and the District Attorney’s Office Special Prosecutions Division.

The case was prosecuted by Assistant District Attorneys Joyce Miller, Deputy Chief of the Domestic Violence Bureau, and Janelle Armentano, both of the Special Prosecutions Division.
