Defendant: Jonathan VanAntwerpen (DOB 04/08/70)

Nov. 21, 2019 – Westchester County District Attorney Anthony A. Scarpino, Jr. announced Jonathan VanAntwerpen of Croton was arraigned Wednesday (11/20) on a charge of Forcible Touching – for putting his hand up the skirt of a passenger sitting next to him on a Metro North train in the vicinity of Croton-on-Hudson.
VanAntwerpen appeared in the Village of Croton-on-Hudson court before Judge Sam Watkins. He was released on his own recognizance and is scheduled to return to court Dec. 18, 2019.

Background
On Sept. 27, 2019, Jonathan VanAntwerpen was seated on a Metro North train next to a woman he did not know. The charge alleges, he pressed his leg into hers. He then moved his hand up her thigh and under her skirt. When the victim confronted him, he got off at the Croton-Harmon train station.

The MTA Police, with the help of the Greenburgh Police and New York State Police, conducted an investigation, including viewing surveillance video recorded on the train and surrounding area.

The Westchester County District Attorney’s Office Yorktown Branch is prosecuting the case.
