Defendant: Craig Rosenberg (DOB 05/11/1964)

May 28, 2020-- Westchester County District Attorney Anthony A. Scarpino, Jr. announced Craig Rosenberg of Irvington was arraigned for stalking one of his students via online messaging. He was charged with Stalking in the Fourth Degree, a misdemeanor. Rosenberg appeared in Westchester County Court Emergency Part via video conference this afternoon before White Plains City Court Judge John Collins. He was released on his own recognizance and is scheduled to return to court June 16, 2020.

Rosenberg resigned earlier as a per diem substitute from the White Plains School District.

Background
The defendant was a substitute teacher at White Plains High School. When schools closed due to the pandemic, the complaint alleges, he began to send text messages and direct messages to students via Instagram and a school application. He also began to send non-school-related messages to an individual 17-year-old student. Those messages made the student uncomfortable.

With the support of the student’s parents, the student told Rosenberg to stop and blocked him on all media. The family contacted White Plains Police who notified the defendant to stop communications with the student. They also reported the teacher to White Plains High School. The White Plains School District also contacted police.

After being blocked, Rosenberg continued to try to learn more about the targeted student by reaching out to other students who were friends with the victim and asking them to pass his messages along to the victim. White Plains PD arrested Rosenberg Wednesday night (May 27,2020).

In compliance with the Rules of Professional Conduct, Rule 3.6, you are advised that a charge is merely an accusation and that a defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
