Defendant: Marko Nikac (DOB 07/04/70)

May 9, 2019 -- Westchester County District Attorney Anthony A. Scarpino, Jr. announced Marko Nikac of Congers, New York, pleaded guilty to selling “Green Cards” to undocumented immigrants seeking legal work status while he posed as a federal agent.

Specifically, Nikac pleaded guilty to the crime of Criminal Impersonation in the First Degree, a class E felony. Westchester County Court Judge Michael Martinelli accepted the plea. He is expected to return to court Aug. 15, 2019, for sentencing.

Background 
On July 5, 2018, Westchester County Police detectives arrested a Rockland County resident in connection with a scam in which he promised “Green Cards” in exchange for cash to undocumented immigrants residing in Mount Kisco.

Marko Nikac was arrested at his home in Congers by detectives from the Westchester County Police General Investigations Unit. The arrest followed a two-monthlong investigation into allegations that while impersonating a federal agent, Nikac offered to provide three undocumented immigrants with United States Resident Alien Cards (also known as “Green Cards”) for $3,000 each.

Senior Assistant District Attorney Yvonne Morales of the Superior Court Trial Division Pleadings Bureau, and Assistant District Attorney Michael A. D’Addario, Chief of the Superior Court Trial Division Pleadings Bureau, prosecuted the case.
