Background:

On Jan. 18, 2018, the victim was in his home in New Rochelle with a woman he had been dating for six months or so. At approximately 4:55 a.m., the woman, unbeknownst to victim, let Augustus Moore and two other individuals into the apartment. Moore went into the victim's bedroom, pointed a firearm at him, and told him to get face down on the bed. The victim complied and his mouth was taped shut and his arms and legs were tied up with tape and clothing. While on the bed, the victim heard the individuals ransacking his apartment.

Moore and the other two individuals left the apartment after approximately 20 minutes and drove away. Meantime, the victim was able to free himself from being tied up, walked through his apartment and noticed jewelry, money, clothing and electronics, including his cellphone, missing. He went out to the street, found a pedestrian and asked that person to call 911. Police responded and the investigation began.

Moore was arrested May 7, 2018, by New Rochelle Police.

The defendant was indicted in July 2018 by a Westchester County Grand Jury.

Assistant District Attorneys Jonathan Strongin and John Astarita of the Superior Court Trial Division prosecuted the case.
