Defendant: Antonio Pinheiro (DOB: 06/11/74)

March 5, 2019 -- Westchester County District Attorney Anthony A. Scarpino, Jr. announced Antonio Pinheiro, of Westtown, NY, in Orange County, pleaded guilty Monday (3/4) to stealing thousands of dollars’ worth of stamps from the U.S. Post Office in Peekskill where he was an employee.

Pinheiro appeared in Peekskill City Court where he pleaded guilty to Petit Larceny, a misdemeanor. He provided full up-front restitution of $6,860.00 and was sentenced to a 1-year conditional discharge.

Background
The felony complaint alleges Pinheiro stole approximately 14,000 stamps from the U.S. Postal Service while he was employed at the Peekskill post office. The stamps were taken during the time period of July to October 2017. The value of the stolen stamps was over $6,000.00. Pinheiro was selling the stamps via an online marketplace.

His arrest Dec. 4, 2018, followed a joint investigation by the U.S. Postal Inspection Service and the District Attorney’s Investigation Division. Assistant District Attorney Berit Huseby of the Public Integrity Bureau prosecuted the case.
