Defendant: Jamir Thompson (DOB 03/07/04)

June 5, 2019 -- Westchester County District Attorney Anthony A. Scarpino, Jr. announced Jamir Thompson of Yonkers was arraigned today in the fatal shooting of a teenager on a Yonkers street April 25, 2019. The 15-year-old is being tried as a Juvenile Offender. Westchester Family Court Judge Arlene Gordon-Oliver presided at today’s arraignment in the Youth Part.

Specifically, Thompson was indicted by a Westchester County Grand Jury on the following charges:

• Murder in the Second Degree, a class A violent felony
• Attempted Murder in the Second Degree, a class B violent felony
• Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the Second Degree, a class C felony
• Grand Larceny in the Fourth Degree, a class E felony

He was remanded into custody and will return to court Sept. 4, 2019.

Background
On April 25, 2019, around 6:30 p.m., the indictment alleges that Jamir Thompson fired a fatal shot that killed 18-year-old Marilyn Cotto Montanez as she walked down Morningside Avenue with her nine-year-old sister. Thompson fled the area and surrendered to Yonkers Police May 7, 2019, 12 days later.

The case is being prosecuted by Assistant District Attorneys Kerrie Williams and John Astarita of the Superior Court Trial Division.
