Defendant: Savion Kirton (DOB 03/03/94)

June 3, 2019 -- Westchester County District Attorney Anthony A. Scarpino, Jr. announced Savion Kirton, of Mount Vernon, was arraigned in Mount Vernon City Court, charged with Manslaughter in the First Degree, a class B felony, in the fatal stabbing of another man.

Kirton is being held in Westchester County Jail on $200,000 bond/$100,000 cash bail. He is scheduled for his next court appearance June 11, 2019, in Mount Vernon City Court.

Background
On Saturday, June 1, 2019, prosecutors allege that Savion Kirton stabbed another man while outside a corner store on South Eighth Avenue at West Fifth Street. The victim, 38-year-old Jermial Rose, was pronounced dead later at Montefiore-Mount Vernon Hospital. There are no details about the reason for the stabbing at this time.

The case is being prosecuted by Assistant District Attorney Jonathan Strongin, Deputy Chief of the Career Criminal Bureau.
