Defendants:  Ian De Los Reyes (DOB: 11/27/1985); Danilo Tolentino (DOB: 05/29/1960)

July 17, 2019 -- Westchester County District Attorney Anthony A. Scarpino, Jr. announced that Ian De Los Reyes (no known address) and Danilo Tolentino of Greenburgh were arraigned Tuesday (July 2016) on charges related to the killing of a pit bull terrier mix in Tolentino’s backyard last weekend.

De Los Reyes is charged with Aggravated Cruelty to Animals and is being held at Westchester County Jail in lieu of bail set at $150,000 cash/$300,000 bond. In addition, Tolentino is charged with Tampering with Physical Evidence, a class E felony, and Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the Fourth Degree, a class B felony. He also was remanded into custody in lieu of bail set at $10,000.

Background
On Saturday, July 13, 2019, Greenburgh Police arrested Ian De Los Reyes and Danilo Tolentino after officers found the charred remains of a pit bull terrier in Tolentino’s backyard and evidence of the dog’s killing inside the house. Tolentino reported the death of the dog to police on Saturday morning.

Police allege, De Los Reyes beat and killed the pit bull terrier and then proceeded to burn its body in a fire pit sometime Friday night or early Saturday. Tolentino then attempted to cover up the death of the dog by tampering with the evidence of the dog’s death inside the residence. Following a search subsequent to arrest, police found Tolentino in possession of methamphetamine, an illegal substance. The pet dog had belonged to Tolentino’s daughter who was no longer living there.

Assistant District Attorney Mary Ann Liebowitz of the Investigations Division is prosecuting the case.
