Dec. 09, 2015 -- Westchester County District Attorney Janet DiFiore announced that Mario Vallorosi DOB (01/22/37) of 10 Udell Court, Cortlandt Manor, New York was sentenced today to three and one half years in state prison on his Aug. 20, 2015 guilty plea to:

ā€¢    one count of Attempted Assault in the First Degree, a class ā€œCā€ Violent Felony,

relating to the shotgun shooting of his 74-year-old wife.

On June 15, 2013 at approximately 4:00 a.m., the defendant shot his wife at close range with a shotgun at their home on Udell Court in Cortlandt Manor.

Their adult son, who was also in the house at the time of the shooting, heard a noise and after investigating the noise and found his mother lying on a sofa in an upstairs computer room.

He called police.

State Police responded, gained access to and secured the house.  

The victim was removed to Westchester Medical Center with severe injuries to her abdomen and chest.

The defendant was arrested at the scene by New York State Police.

Along with the state prison sentence, the defendant was sentenced to five years of post-release supervision.   

Assistant District Attorney Laura Murphy of the Superior Court Trial prosecuted the case.
