Aug. 1, 2019 – Westchester County District Attorney Anthony A. Scarpino Jr. announced that Nadia Gordon of Mount Vernon was arraigned Wednesday (July 31, 2019) in the Mount Vernon City Court on three charges of Criminal Possession of a Forged Instrument in the Second Degree, class D felonies.

Gordon was released on her own recognizance and surrendered her passport. She is scheduled to return to court Aug. 21, 2019.

Background
Between October 2018 and March 2019, in the City of Mount Vernon and elsewhere, Nadia Gordon possessed three forged legal documents: a "Certificate of Disposition," a "Motion to Dismiss," and a divorce decree. Gordon possessed these false documents in an effort to assist her present husband in an immigration proceeding in New York City.

The forged “Certificate of Disposition” falsely stated that on October 30, 2018 the Mount Vernon City Court dismissed a criminal case against her present husband which had been pending. That false document also contained the forged signature of the City Court’s Chief Clerk.

The forged “Motion to Dismiss” falsely stated that the “Criminal District Attorney of Westchester County (sic)” requested the case against her present husband be dismissed and, in turn, falsely stated the City Court considered the “motion” and dismissed the case. That false document also contained the forged signatures of both an Assistant District Attorney and a Mount Vernon City Court Judge.

The forged divorce decree falsely stated a final judgement and decree of divorce between “Nadia Gordon” and another individual was entered on October 12, 2018. That false document also contained the forged signature of another Mount Vernon City Court Judge.

This investigation was worked jointly with Mount Vernon Police Department. The case is being prosecuted by the Public Integrity Bureau of the Westchester County District Attorney’s Office.

In compliance with the Rules of Professional Conduct, Rule 3.6, you are advised that a charge is merely an accusation and that a defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty
