Defendant: Clint Edwards (DOB 08/10/90)

April 25, 2019 -- Westchester County District Attorney Anthony A. Scarpino, Jr. announced Clint Edwards, of New Windsor, NY, was sentenced to seven years in state prison with 10 years post-release supervision for engaging in a sexual act with a child under the age of 15 in Port Chester in June 2017. The sentence was handed down Wednesday, April 23, 2019.

He pleaded guilty October 9, 2018, to a Criminal Sexual Act in the Second Degree, a class D violent felony. Edwards will be required to register as a sex offender.

Background
Clint Edwards met the child via social media, engaged in the sexual act in the child’s apartment building then took her to his residence in Orange County, New York. In response to a missing person’s report for the child, the FBI and Port Chester Police tracked her to Edward’s family home in New Windsor where he was arrested days later.

Edwards’ sentence will run concurrently to a 20-year sentence on a federal case involving the same child victim. Unrelated to these cases, Edwards was also sentenced Wednesday to 1.5-3 years in state prison for Attempted Assault in the Second Degree, a violent felony, involving another inmate in the county jail in January. He also pleaded guilty to a second count of Attempted Assault in the Second Degree involving an incident with a correction officer in the county jail in October 2018. That sentencing is scheduled for June 11, 2019. All terms will run concurrently with the federal case.

Assistant District Attorney Christine Hatfield, Deputy Chief of the Child Abuse Bureau, prosecuted the Port Chester case. Assistant District Attorney, Daniel Flecha, Deputy Bureau Chief in the Superior Court Trial Division, handled the assault cases.
