Yonkers Police Arrest Members of the 150 Clan Gang on Conspiracy Charges, Recover Illegal Handguns

Sept. 4, 2018 -- Mayor Mike Spano, Police Commissioner Charles Gardner and Westchester County District Attorney Anthony A. Scarpino Jr. announced a series of arrests which took place last week throughout the City of Yonkers, targeting known members of the 150 Clan gang as a result of an intensive eight-month long investigation. ‘Operation: 150 Clan’ is a collaborative law enforcement effort between the Yonkers Police Department and the Westchester County District Attorney’s Office Investigations Division – Gang, Firearms and Narcotics Bureau.

Members of the Yonkers Police Department began executing arrests early Wednesday morning, targeting eight offenders who are the subject of this investigation. The majority of these arrests took place on the west side of the City. 150 Clan gang members allegedly operated in and around the Nodine Hill Area and were engaged in acts of violence that involved multiple shooting and assault incidents, including a shooting incident on June 9, 2018, where a victim was shot at twice and struck once in the leg.

During the investigation Yonkers Police detectives, working in collaboration with their partners in the Westchester County District Attorney’s Office, reviewed numerous incidents that were found to be connected to this group of individuals. Detectives conducted multiple interviews, debriefings, viewing of video recordings, physical surveillance and the execution of multiple search warrants. Investigators were able to develop information targeting the 150 Clan gang, which was presented to a grand jury resulting in the indictment of these eight (8) individuals.

The defendants (named in the photo array below) are accused of conspiracy to commit attempted murder, assault in the first degree and criminal possession of a weapon in the second degree in addition to other crimes.

As a result of this investigation and multiple search warrant executions, investigators recovered two .45 caliber semi-automatic pistols, one .380 caliber semi-automatic pistol, a military-style bulletproof vest, dozens of rounds of ammunition, and multiple decks of heroin, in addition to other evidence.

The investigation is spearheaded by detectives assigned to the Yonkers Police Department’s Gang Unit, which is tasked with monitoring, investigating, and apprehending perpetrators of group violence, with assistance from the 3rd and 4th Precinct anti-crime units.

Mayor Mike Spano stated, “We have one of the safest Cities in America because we have one of the best police departments in America and a DA’s office dedicated to public service. I thank Commissioner Gardner, DA Scarpino, and all the hardworking men and women of both agencies for their efforts in removing these criminals from our streets.”

Police Commissioner Charles Gardner stated, “Gangs and illegal guns have no place in our communities, and these on-going investigations and arrests are a testament to the Yonkers Police Department’s resolve to keep Yonkers one of the safest cities in America. I applaud the remarkable efforts of our police officers and detectives and our partners in the Westchester County District Attorney’s Office for their commitment to public safety and the City of Yonkers.”

Westchester County District Attorney Anthony A. Scarpino Jr. stated, “These arrests are the result of the continued efforts of the Yonkers Police Gang Unit, working in conjunction with the District Attorney’s Office Investigations Division. Their intense and ongoing investigations into violent gangs in the City of Yonkers are making our communities safer by getting drugs and guns off our streets.”

As of today, seven defendants have been apprehended with one offender still at large. The investigation is ongoing and additional arrest(s) are anticipated.
