Sept. 03, 2015 -- Westchester County District Attorney Janet DiFiore announced today that Jennifer Ciavirella Schmidberger (DOB 02/01/75) of 3 Delra Lane, Yorktown Heights, New York, was charged by Felony Complaint with:

  • one count of Grand Larceny in the Third Degree, a class “D” Felony,

for allegedly stealing approximately $30,000 from St. Patrick’s Parochial School in Bedford where she was previously employed as the school’s principal.

An audit of the school’s finances conducted by the Archdiocese of New York in 2014 revealed irregularities. They then contacted the District Attorney’s office.

Schmidberger had been the principal of the school since 2010.

She was arrested Wednesday by investigators from the District Attorney’s office.

The defendant was arraigned in Bedford Town Court.

Bail was set at $1,500 cash or $5,000 bond.

Her next court date is Oct. 7, 2015.

She faces a maximum sentence of seven years in state prison.

The Archdiocese of New York is continuing to fully cooperate with this investigation.

Assistant District Attorney Nicole Gamble of the Economic Crimes Bureau, is prosecuting the case.
