Guilty Plea in mount vernon ROBBERY/HOMICIDE
Westchester County District Attorney Janet DiFiore announced that Dwight Williams (DOB 01/04/90) of 46 Esplanade Avenue, Mount Vernon, New York pled guilty today to one count of Murder in the Second Degree, a class “A” Felony.
On September 15, 2007, at approximately 4:45 A.M., in the area of 251 West First Street, in Mount Vernon, Williams initiated an armed robbery as he pointed a loaded, semi-automatic pistol at his victim, demanding money and property.
The defendant, while still brandishing the pistol, took money, a cell phone, a wallet, and a watch from the victim.
Immediately following the robbery, the defendant shot the victim one time in the back of the head.
The victim died at Jacobi Medical Center in the Bronx as a result of the gunshot wound to his head.
Two days later, Mount Vernon Detectives received an anonymous phone call identifying the individual responsible for the shooting gave a description of the individual, and the immediate area where he lived.
The defendant was arrested on October 2, 2007.
Williams is scheduled to be sentenced on January 13, 2009.
Assistant District Attorney Christine O’Connor, Deputy Bureau Chief of the Homicide Bureau prosecuted the case.
